Probably the automobile is the best general application of the principles of physics. Mechanics of solids is illustrated by its springs, bolts, and most of its moving parts; mechanics of liquids by the circulation of its water cooling system; sound by its horn; light by its headlights; heat by the explosions of its engine; and magnetism and electricity by its electrical battery and its starting and lighting systems.
