Decades after graduating high school, Augustus Rivera is reintroduced to an old sweetheart he never had the pleasure of “sealing the deal” with. Maria, of all people, should recognize him off the bat considering they dated for two years back then. Not much has changed except Augustus has lost a ton of weight and his body is now chiseled and ripped from the fat and flab she probably remember him best for.
“Here you go, Manuel.”
It took a millisecond for him to snap back into the con as reach for the towel out of her grasp. There had been no part of his name, nickname or otherwise, had ever been Manuel. It was something he came with on the spot after the familiar face of yesteryear looked over at him and it didn’t register to her who he was.
Sure you don’t recognize me. It’s only been twenty years! We dated for like an eternity back in high school, though. Two fucking years! We were each other’s first loves and sweethearts whatnot. I couldn’t have changed that drastically!
“Thanks, Maria.” He beamed to dry his face and thick hair.
