Discovering Lombardy step by step and discovering the paths trodden in the past by pilgrims and merchants, through fields and woods, along rivers and around lakes: this is the opportunity we want to offer with LinC – Lombardia in Cammino (camminidilombardia.it) – a project approved by the Lombardy Region – to a broad and diversified audience of walkers, families with kids, young people, schools, travellers and tourists. People who share the idea that walking is a great learning tool, to learn more about themselves and the area they are walking through. This practical guide has selected 12 walks that pass through the Lombardy Region. They are the best-known and the most consolidated. They’re the walks that have a higher level of ‘doability’ and back-up, with good way marks or GPS tracks, websites or applications for mobile phones with regularly updated online practical information. Many of them have a religious foundation, linked to an event or a testimonial of Christian faith, but there are also plenty of historic routes that reinforce the region’s longstanding vocation as an important crossroads.
