A syndrome where typical symptoms are pain, marked sensitivity upon palpation and swelling around one or several costochondral junctions Hyperventilation tendency, cough, viral or bacterial infections or thoracic therapeutic procedures may precede onset of symptoms. The aetiology remains unclear in the majority of cases.
