Quite often the public gets to know a famous person in history through the personal diaries and memories he or she left us, after leaving this world. In spite of biographies, these personal accounts, originally written for personal reference and use only, are the best way to discover the real personality of the author. Many characters of the Great War make no exception and, in the course of almost one century, a large number of diaries and similar publications have reached a bigger and bigger audience throughout the world.
